My background

While pursuing my degree in accounting at North Dakota State University, I took a financial planning course that changed my trajectory. I fell in love with the idea of walking alongside clients, helping them set goals, and encouraging them along the way. God wired me in a way that allows me to connect well with others, building relationships and friendships with nearly everyone I meet. Connection is critical in a client/advisor relationship as trust and respect are built through these relationships. Through these last 11+ years, I've walked through deaths, divorces, marriages, new babies, layoffs, new business ventures, and promotions with my clients. I've shed tears with them. We've laughed and celebrated together. Through both these beautiful and difficult moments, we've ultimately become friends.

Ramsey Story

When I graduated from North Dakota State University, I found myself in a pile of student loans not seeing an end in sight. After reading The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey, given to me by my older, wiser brother, I jumped on board with Dave's plan, picking up two part-time jobs in addition to my full-time position and getting gazelle intense about paying off my debt. Although the days were long and the nights were short, 16 months later I became debt-free paying off $37,000 in student loans.

With my newly found debt freedom, I became even more passionate about helping people take control of their money. This led me into financial planning and later becoming a SmartVestor Pro. My team's goal is to help manage and maintain assets so that as retirement approaches, our clients will have enough to support the lifestyle they have determined is appropriate for them.

I've been in this business since 2008 and in an advising role since 2012. I enjoy being a Ramsey SmartVestor Pro, serving clients using Ramsey's biblically-based principles. I enjoy encouraging clients with my own personal debt payoff story which allowed me to begin focusing on investing in my family's future and giving to causes that I care about including the Great North Pole, YWCA, Prairie Heights Church, United Way, and Park Christian School.

Ramsey Story

"Before I started working with Tawna in 2019 my husband, Ben, and I made some poor financial decisions. We would take out zero percent interest loans to buy things we wanted, just because it was “free” money. We had student loan debt that totaled over $60,000 and had a loan for our fence and furniture. After about a year of listening to Tawna teach others about good money practices using Dave Ramsey’s money principles, I started talking to Ben about changing the way we handled our money. We worked hard to pay off around $72,000 in debt in two years.  I am grateful to Tawna for cheering us on along the way and am excited to be a part of a team that leads people toward better financial futures. Ben and I now make better financial decisions, are investing for retirement, and sleep a whole lot better at night knowing that we’re making progress each day toward the financial goals we have set together."
